The 6th Amendment

The Right to a Speedy Trial, Confrontation of Witnesses

 

 Number of Visitors:

 

      In court, the accused has the right to a speedy, public trial, with an unprejudiced jury. The jury will be from the state and the district where the crime was committed, this district will have previously examined by law, and to tell about the nature and cause of the accusation. The accused also has the right to witnesses be confronted by witnesses against him/her.  To have a required process of getting favor to the witness, and to have help for the Counsel for his/her defense.[1]

     The his amendment was created "An important safegaurd to prevent undue and oppressive incarceration priar to trial, to minimize anxiety and concern accompanying public accusation and to limit the possibly that long delay will impair the abilition an accused to defend himself."[2] Since the 6th amendment was one of the First ten amendments, it is included in the Bill of Rights. People would not pass the Constitution without a Bill of Rights. A Bill of Rights is a list of freedoms a citizen gets to ensure their rights.

It took 811 days (about 2 years and 2 months), it was finally ratified December 15, 1791 (12/15/1791).[4]
